I’ve always wanted a cat, but my mom is by no means a cat person. So we got this instead.

My parents did say I’d get a cat once I was on my own, but that has yet to happen because my schedule was not conducive to having a cat.

Cats are the best! My work hours are too long to be fair to a dog, but my kitty cat is ok with his food and water bowls and his litter box. Plus, he gets lots of snuggles once I get home. This is my lil guy:

Enzo, right? Very cute. With my luck, the girl I meet is going to hate cats and I’ll never have one. If I stay out of the oil field, I’m getting a cat when I’m back on my own. I love my parents labradoodle, but I really want a cat.

Heh. Yeah, Enzo. I’ve had all sorts of pets. Cats, dogs, birds, fish, even a turtle.

I would love to get Enzo another cat or a big dog as a companion, but it’s just not feasible right now. :/ One day.

I really don’t understand people who are vehemently against a particular type of animal. Like, I don’t get how people can be like “I HATE cats” or “I HATE dogs.” How? They’re all super cute and they all take a lot of work to keep. But no matter which you choose, it’s rewarding.

I try to use Enzo as an ambassador to people who don’t like cats, or who cleave to the stereotype that cats are emotionless, distant, unattached, and incapable of showing affection. He’s a rescue and a very loving cat who actively seeks out cuddles and likes being near at hand. And he’s friendly with most people he meets. Plus, he’s trainable. So far, I’ve trained him how to sit on command. He’ll even wake me up if I oversleep my alarm. I mean, how is that not awesome? Heh.

It was hard enough to convince my mom to get a dog, we dog sat a neighbors labradoodle and after that my mom was like I could have one of these. They don’t shed, so that was big plus. We tried to get a rescue, but the dog was terrified of me and my dad so that didn’t work, it wasn’t even a doodle it was some mutt. So we got a puppy from the same breeder that my neighbor got her doodle from. She’s 10 now and my mom’s buddy. I was never a dog person before but I’m gonna end up with one some day. All the girls I seem to go after are dog people; so we’ll see on the cat but I’ll probably get one someday.

My cat cornered my 3 year-old daughter this morning. She yelled for me and I looked up and the cat was stalking up on her like she was a mouse. As my daughter ran away the cat grabbed her leg. This same girl also got cornered by our chickens once. She so sweet they think she’s prey.
